1. Introduction

Welcome to IPA Reader (“we”, “our”, “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application (“IPA Reader” or “the App”) handles your information.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

IPA Reader is designed with privacy as a core principle. We want to be transparent:

No account registration required — You can use all features without creating an account.
No personal data collection — We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.
No analytics or tracking — We do not use any analytics SDKs or tracking tools.
No advertising — The app contains no advertisements or ad-related tracking.
No third-party data sharing — We do not share any data with third parties.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

Important: All data listed above exists only on your device. It is never uploaded to any server. If you uninstall the app, this data will be permanently deleted.

4. Network Usage

The App accesses the internet for the following purposes only:

Web browsing: Loading web pages you choose to visit in the built-in browser.
Text-to-Speech: Using the device’s built-in TTS engine (no network required for most voices).

We do not operate any backend servers. No data is transmitted from the App to us.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the device’s built-in WebView component to display web pages. When you visit websites through the App:

Those websites may have their own privacy policies and data collection practices.
We have no control over the privacy practices of websites you visit.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of websites you visit.

6. Microphone Access

The App requests microphone permission only for the pronunciation practice (shadowing) feature. Audio recordings:

Are stored temporarily on your device during the practice session.
Are used solely for local pronunciation scoring.
Are never uploaded to any server.
Can be deleted at any time through the app’s settings.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, the App is safe for users of all ages. However, the App is not specifically designed for children.

8. Data Deletion

IPA Reader stores all data locally on your device. No data is stored on any external server. You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time.

To delete specific data:

Open IPA Reader.
Go to Settings.
Tap Clear Data to delete browsing history, bookmarks, and search history.
Tap Clear Archive to delete saved vocabulary, sentences, and notes.

To delete all data:

Uninstalling the app will permanently remove all associated data from your device.

Data retention: Since all data is stored locally on your device, no data is retained by us after deletion. We do not operate any servers that store your data.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
